WENDY O. WILLIAMS AND THE PLASMATICS: TEN YEARS OF REVOLUTIONARY ROCK AND ROLL (MVD)

This is an incredible DVD that charts the life of Wendy O. Williams in the spotlight (although it makes no mention of her eventual suicide), the rise and rise of the Plasmatics, from the band's formation by Rod Swenson (the conceptual artist who visualized the band as an embodiment of art versus the establishment, the battering ram to smash the state), through their early punk rock records and eventual 'evolution' into heavy a heavy metal vehicle for Wendy to do what she did best, shock and outrage audiences the world over. Featuring interviews with Hilly Krystal, Wes Beech (Plasmatics guitarist), 'Krusher' Joule (self-confessed Plasmatics fanatic), Chris Knowles and archive footage of Wendy explaining things in her own words. 'Ten Years' tells the fuil, unedited tale, the arrests, the car explosions, the trials, the good times and the bad. This was a band led by the only performer who managed to transcend the gender roles so beloved by the music industry, Wendy O. Williams, who walked it exactly like she talked it. There's a nifty little thing on the DVD as well. When the relevant tracks and videos are being discussed, you get an option to play the video in full -- bloody clever and then some!!! In 1980, The Plasmatics were voted the most dangerous band in the world, and you know something? They still are -- DVD of the issue, no doubt about it. Bloody essential!!!! Tim, Mass Movement
